Fenisia is a modern alternative metal band based in Rome, Italy and founded in 2009. The band’s music is strongly influenced by the “deep south” sound of the American southern rock movement. The result is a unique sound blending heavy metal riffs with modern hard-rockin’ song structures. Inspired by the imagery of a rising phoenix, they adopted the original moniker Fenisia to symbolize a rebirth and renewal when forming the band. They wrote some early songs which they performed at local venues, however the “magic” didn’t really start happening until about 2011 when they began integrating their heavy musical style with their passion for the occult, ancient mythology, and alchemy. As their lyrics began to reflect their knowledge of occultism, their sound also evolved further towards a more definite direction of dark, esoteric concepts which ultimately led to the creation of their debut release, a concept album entitled Lucifer. Lucifer was released independently in 2012, and while the album is straightforward, the complex musical logic of the compositions is also somewhat “enlightening” for the few fans of the band who have deciphered the esoteric symbolism therein. The album was recorded at Forward Studio in Rome, and the first single “Damnation’s Ballad” generated stellar reviews from dozens of music blogs and Italian media, as well as significant airplay on 106.6 Radio Rock, the biggest rock radio station in Rome. As the band performed numerous headlining gigs as well as concerts supporting The Misfits and Paul Di’Anno over the next two years, more new material took shape into well-planned compositions. The band has never really forced the writing of new material though. As soon as they had enough songs, they began recording their sophomore album entitled Fenisia Café. The album received praise from local as well as international press and helped to showcase the maturation of the band’s sound. In 2018, the band started writing their third concept album… The Spectator. Two years in the making, the third and final chapter of the band’s conceptual discography is finally ready to be released. Named after the historic enlightenment newspaper founded in London during the early 1700’s, The Spectator was also produced by Ray Sperlonga (American Idol) at Rosary Lane Studios, and mastered by Collin Davis (Imagica, Deeds of Flesh) at Imperial Mastering. The musical journey of The Spectator explores its roots in depth and extends the songwriting a step above the band’s previous releases. The evolution of Fenisia also sheds a light on their Southern’ Rock origins, while melding them with vigorous power cords
of metal to give every track a powerful energy to support the lyrics which tell the final chapter of the story that has been on display with their previous two albums.

I FENISIA nascono nel 2009 nella periferia di Roma, elaborano ben presto un possente sound tra l’ hard rock ed il metal che trova le sue radici nelle contaminazioni della musica proveniente dal profondo sud degli USA, il “Southern Rock”. La band consacra la simbologia della “Fenice”, presentandosi con il nome: “FENISIA”. Tra il 2011 e 2012 intraprendono un percorso che integra il loro stile musicale a studi esoterici e scientifici. Il tutto sfocia in una miscela di suoni duri e testi accattivanti, permeati di richiami mitologici e letterali, fortemente influenzati dall’antico movimento dell’illuminismo. Inizia così a prendere corpo l’album “Lucifer”, un progetto elaborato ma soprattutto un “Concept Album” che segue una logica musicale complessa ma diretta ed esalta la personalità sonora della band che abbraccia con i testi i simbolismi storici della nascita della scienza. Il mastering di Lucifer viene realizzato agli Sterling Sound di New York da Leon Zervos passando per il Forward studio di Roma. Debutta con interviste e recensioni su moltissime webzine, passando su radio come RadioRadio by Night, RLT, Radio Spazio Aperto, Rumore Radio e Radio Rock. All’ inizio del 2011, alcuni brani di “Lucifer” fanno il loro esordio live: prima in due concerti accanto ai Rezophonic al Black Out, uno dei palchi più importanti di Roma, quindi aprono l’esibizione ad una famosa band Americana del Punk Rock i Misfits al Piper di Roma, per poi essere la special guest di Paul Di Anno, ex Frontman degli Iron Maiden. Nel 2015 la band ha presentato l’ultimo lavoro chiamato “ Fenisia Cafè” il secondo capitolo del CONCEPT espresso in Lucifer. Masterizzato da Colin Davis, Pacheco California, è il risultato del perfetto sviluppo delle idee illuministe avvolte in un muro di suono che esplode in ogni brano dell’ album. Sempre più maturo e consolidato il Fenisia Cafè è un intenso viaggio tra melodia hard rock, ritmi metal ed il sapore delle atmosfere degli incontri clandestini tra le più grandi menti del XVIII secolo nel Procpè Cafè di Parigi. Debutta con tre singoli ed il video di Jaded Days supera le tredicimila visualizzazioni in soli 3 mesi. Molteplici recensioni ed interviste fra webzine, riviste musicali come Rock Hard e radio come TRS 102.3 e Radio Rock, hanno accolto con ottime critiche questo secondo Album. Il 30 Ottobre 2020 I Fenisia pubblicano il terzo ed ultimo capitolo del CONCEPT illuminista tramite Eclipse Records, dunque la nascita’ in Lucifer, l’evoluzione nel Fenisia Cafè ed ora la divulgazione e suoi frutti nell’album “The Spectator”. Prodotto nuovamente da Ray Sperlonga (American Idol) ai Rosary Lane Studios e masterizzato da Collin Davis (Imagica, Deeds of Flesh) all’Imperial Mastering, Il viaggio musicale di quest’ultimo lavoro esplora a fondo le sue radici e si fregia di nuove soluzioni estendendo il sound là dove i precedenti album non era giunti. La concretezza ed il consolidamento dei Quattro Fenisia esprime la predominanza delle origini southern’ rock, immancabili e vigorosi i powercords metal in forza su ogni brano ma senza indugio l’ hard rock la fa da padrone e i testi risolvono e concludono la filosofia che ha nutrito tutta la triologia.
